About Lauder
hotel accommodation lauder
The town of Lauder offers a unique blend of historic, scenic and sightseeing opportunities. The highlight of the Lauder year is the Common Riding Festival. During the week before its climax, on the first Saturday in August, the town adopts a carnival atmosphere with a Fancy Dress and Float parade, local celebrations and the traditional ride-outs to secure the "Marches" or Boundaries.
Situated on the edge of the town is one of Scotland's seven inhabited grand houses - Thirlestane Castle - open to the public from Spring till end October, it offers the visitor a fine insight into the grandure of a stately home.
For walkers, the Southern Upland Way winds its way through the town whilst golfers will enjoy the scenic but competitive nature of the local course. All country sports abound, plus a sports centre with gym and internet café. There is ample opportunities to view local crafts in the High Street Gallery.
